France national team boss Didier Deschamps midfielder Yohan Cabaye should consider a move away from Paris St Germain if he is to feature regularly for the national team.
The former Newcastle United man made a £20 million switch to the French capital over a year ago. Prior to the move, he was one of the influential defensive midfielders for the national team. However, his place in the national team has come under national threat largely because of his lack of football at PSG. PSG manager Laurent Blanc has primarily preferred the duo ofVerratti andMatuidi.
Since PSG have been able to win a famous quadruple with these two players in the centre of the park, it is highly unlikely that Blanc will be changing the personnel anytime soon. Hence, the prospects ofCabaye featuring for the national team are diminishing fast according toDeschamps. He says that the 29-year-old should consider a swift exit in the summer. The Frenchman is at the age when he will be considered as an important aspect by many clubs. Once he hits the 30 mark,Cabaye will find it difficult to make a move toward top club. The midfielder has himself admitted that he would be open to the possibility of working with Alan Pardew, who is at Crystal Palace, once again.
“Yohan is in a complicated position with his club. He knows it. We talked about it last autumn. In order to reach his best level, to be full of confidence, with pace and regularity, he needs to get that at his club. But he didn’t have the opportunity to do so with his club. Players like him are under contract. They are free to choose. But Yohan is lucid and he knows the situation. Would he find a better solution? I hope that for him,” saidDeschamps.
